This wine is named after Grace Kelly, the matriarch of the Kelly family. The family estate has a vineyard on a ridge at about 1000 feet above sea level, overlooking the Pacific, hence the name Pacific Ridge. Most of the fruit was sourced from a vineyard in Oakville near Opus One and Paradigm, and close to the base of the Harlan Estate hill. The remainder was chosen from St. Helena to achieve a rich blend with a powerful punch, long finish, outstanding balance and complexity. This wine was gently handled, a fining to remove coarse tannins and a light filtration was performed before bottling in late 2006. 91 rating from Wine Enthusiast December 2007, 92 rating from Word Press 2008. 100% French oak, aged in a mix of barrels for 24 months Coopers and forests varied, toastings medium with toasted heads 125 cases produced |
